Suddenly

partial paths
remain unexplored
shimmering caves
hidden alcoves
sharpen the senses
indulge desires
urgently meeting
restrictions expired
recognize reflections
superimposed
upon joint conditions
about to explode

My Reflection

There’s more to reflections
than refraction of light
There’s more to vision
than the presence of sight
There’s more to learning
than wisdom and knowledge
There’s more to education
than going to college
When I look in the mirror
this is what I see
My years of discernment
Reflections of me

Here Stand I

Here stand I
Turning my back upon Your glorious light
The shadows dance across my mind
They’re saddening, yet entrancing
I’m mesmerized, then I realize
How far I am from where I ought to be
Why does this keep happening to me?

Here stand I
Returning to the promise
Claiming your deep love
Refilling my spirit
Lifting my hands up
Raising my voice in praise
In spite of how I feel
And how far I have strayed
Regardless of my wandering
And going the wrong way
You see me and You know my heart
No matter where I am
Here I stand

Here stand I
Forgetting everything I know
Only to find that on my own
Ambitions leave nothing to show
It drives me mad
It’s frustrating and sad
I feel so bad
I’m not holy and/or honoring
When I’m foolishly chasing
Happiness
Why must I fall into this mess?

And yet here stand I
Simply awaiting Your reply
Anticipating
And pressing on
The journey is what makes me strong
So here stand I

Deal

Can a man resist gravity or overcome his need for sustenance? Temporarily.
Can magnetism be ignored or electrical impulses denied their power? Possibly.
This world was designed to function according to set rules.
If we think we can simply defy them, we’re fools.
It doesn’t take long for the wise to admit
though we live in this world we don’t control it.
There’s too much energy that escapes through the cracks
and formidable forces that forage attacks.
Yet with all of the circumstance out of our hands,
we still retain some ability to understand
That although stuff may happen we’d like to appeal,
it’s ultimately our choice to run away or to deal.
