Loving a Broken Heart

Approach with caution, there was no warning sign
Please don’t go messing around with this heart of mine
Swim at your own risk, there’s no lifeguard on duty
You will regret this, falling in love with me

Now you’re cut and you bleed from touching sharp edges
You charged hopelessly into my defenses
You wouldn’t let me go, and so now you know
What happens when you start, loving a broken heart

No red flags flying, waving you back around
Only red lips lying, without making a sound
Potential hazard, located straight ahead
You didn’t run, you fell in love instead

Now you’re cut and you bleed from touching sharp edges
You charged hopelessly into my defenses
You wouldn’t let me go, and so now you know
What happens when you start, loving a broken heart

The shrapnel should have been a clue, to the fate awaiting you
Ventured into no man’s land, though you never stood a chance

Now you’re cut and you bleed from touching sharp edges
You charged hopelessly into my defenses
You wouldn’t let me go, and so now you know
What happens when you start, loving a broken heart
